INET is a written exam that consists of 100 multiple-choice questions. The paper is divided into four sections. For each correct answer, the candidate gets 4 marks. For each wrong answer, 1 mark is deducted. It is mandatory to score at least 40% in each section.

Candidates who qualify the INET written test are shortlisted. These shortlisted candidates undergo the SSB Interview. This is a five-day interview which every candidate needs to qualify if he/she wants to join the above-mentioned positions in the Indian Navy.
SSB Interview takes place in two stages.
Stage I- The first day is the screening day. The candidates undergo Officer Intelligence
Rating Test and Picture Perception and Discussion Test. The candidates are
checked for their eligibility once they qualify the screening test. Those who
fail to qualify the screening test or do not fall under the eligibility
criteria are sent back on the first day itself.
Stage II- In the second half of the day, a Psychological Test is conducted. Several tests and interviews including physical tests are conducted in the next four days.
