SSC STENOGRAPHER NOTIFICATION

SSC Stenographer is all India Open Competitive Examination for recruitment to the posts of Stenographer Grade “C” (Group “B” Non-Gazetted) and Stenographer Grade “D” (Group “C” Non-Gazetted).

SSC STENOGRAPHER ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

A. Nationality / Citizenship: A candidate must be either:
(a) a citizen of India, or
(b) a subject of Nepal, or
(c) a subject of Bhutan, or
(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January,1962, with the
intention of permanently settling in India, or
(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

B.Age Limit:

(a) For Stenographer Grade C: 18 to 30 years as on 01-08-2006

(b) For Stenographer Grade D: 18 to 27 years as on 01-08-2006

C. Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent from a recognised Board or University.

All candidates who are declared qualified by the Commission for Document Verification will be required to produce the relevant Certificates such as Mark sheets, Provisional Certificates etc. for completion of Intermediate/ Higher Secondary/ 10+2/ Senior Secondary in original as proof of having acquired the minimum educational qualification on or before 01-01-2019, failing which the candidature of such candidates will be cancelled by the Commission. The candidates who are able to prove, by documentary evidence, that the result of the qualifying examination was declared on or before the cut-off date and he/ she has been declared passed, will also be considered to meet the educational qualification.

Order/ letter in respect of equivalent Educational Qualifications will require to be produced by the candidates at the time of Document Verification or as and when required by the Commission, indicating the Authority (with number and date) under which it has been so treated, in respect of equivalent clause in Essential Qualifications, if a candidate is claiming a particular qualification as equivalent qualification as per the requirement of the Notice of examination.

Note-I: As per Ministry of Human Resource Development Notification dated 10.6.2015 published in Gazette of India all the degrees/ diplomas /certificates including 8 technical education degree/ diploma awarded through Open and Distance Learning mode of education by the Universities established by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature, Institutions Deemed to be Universities under Section 3 of the University Grant Commission Act 1956 and Institutions of National Importance declared under an Act of Parliament stand automatically recognized for the purpose of employment to posts and services under the Central Government provided they have been approved by the Distance Education Bureau, University Grant Commission.

SSC STENOGRAPHER EXAM PATTERN

1.Written Examination Examination: Written examination will consists of Objective Type- Multiple choice questions only. The questions except in Part III will be set both in English & Hindi.

Note-I: There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.

2. Skill Test in Stenography: The candidates who qualify in the written examination will have to appear for the stenography test. The candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English / Hindi at the speed of 100 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade -C‘ and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade -D‘. The matter will have to be transcribed on computer only.
The transcription time is as follows:
For Stenographer Grade-D : 50 minutes ( English ); 65 minutes ( Hindi )
For Stenographer Grade -C: 40 minutes ( English ); 55 Minutes ( Hindi )

Note:
1. If the candidates do not indicate the medium of Stenography Test in Column No.14 of the Application Form, the Commission will consider English as the medium of Stenography Test for such candidates and the candidates will not be allowed to change the medium at a subsequent stage.
2.There is no exemption from skill test for any category of candidates.

SSC STENOGRAPHER SALARY

Grade “C” Salary and Allowances: Pay Scale- 9300-34800/ Grade pay-4200/ Initial Pay-5200/ total Pay- 14500.

Grade “D” Salary and Allowances: Pay Scale- 5200-20200/ Grade pay-2400/ Initial Pay-5200/ total Pay- 7600.

For SC/ST/PWD/ Women/ ESM candidates: Nil

SSC STENOGRAPHER EXAM SYLLABUS

General Intelligence & Reasoning: It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. The test will include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series etc. The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate‘s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions.

General Awareness: Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate‘s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution, and Scientific Research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.

Note: For VH candidates of 40% and above visual disability and opting for SCRIBE there will be no component of Maps/Graphs/Diagrams/Statistical Data in the General Intelligence & Reasoning / General Awareness Paper.

English Language & Comprehension: In addition to the testing of candidates’ understanding of the English Language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc. his/her writing ability, would also be tested.

SSC STENOGRAPHER ADMIT CARD

Before the commencement of the SSC Stenographer 2024 Exam, SSC will be releasing SSC Stenographer Admit Card for the Tier-I exam. Candidates will be able to download SSC Stenographer Call Letter from the official Website of SSC once the Admit Card has been released by the Staff Selection Commission of India.

SSC STENOGRAPHER RESULT

After the completion of exams, the Staff Selection Commission of India (SSCStenographer) will announce the result through the official website of SSC.

SSC STENOGRAPHER SELECTION PROCESS

The examination will consist of a Written Examination and Skill Test in stenography.

A. Written Examination: The written examination will consist of Objective Type- Multiple choice questions only. The questions except in Part III will be set both in English & Hindi. Time duration for general candidates will be 2 Hours and 2 Hours 40 mins for Visually Handicapped candidates. There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.Candidates who obtain the qualifying marks in the Written Examination as may be prescribed by the Commission will only be called for the Skill Test.

B. Skill Test in Stenography: Candidates will be shortlisted for the skill test on the basis of their performance in the Written Examination. The Skill Test will be of qualifying nature and and the Commission will fix the qualifying standards in the skill test for different categories of candidates. The Skill Test will be held at the Commission‘s Regional/Sub Regional Offices or at other Centres as may be decided by the Commission. There is no exemption from skill test for any category of candidates. Candidates who qualify in the skill test will be recommended for appointment by the Commission on the basis of their performance in the Written
Examination.

Resolution of Tie Cases: In case where more than one candidate secure the equal aggregates marks, tie will be resolved by applying the following methods one after another:-
i) Marks in first part of the written examination.
ii) Date of birth, with older candidates placed higher.
iii) Alphabetical order in the first names of the candidates appear
