SSC JE Exam Pattern

The examination will be conducted in two stages:
A.Written Test (500 marks)
B.Interview (100 marks)

A. Written Test: Written test will consists of two papers viz Paper -I and Paper-II. Paper-I will consist of Objective Type Multiple Choice questions only and Paper-II will be Conventional Type questions . There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I.

Note I:  Paper -I and Paper-III for General Engineering, the candidate will be required to attempt only one part i.e. Part-A or Part-B or Part-C as per option given in the application form by the candidate.e. In other words, the candidates appearing for the post of Junior Engineer (Civil), Junior Engineer(Quantity Surveying & Contract) should attempt Part A (Civil & Structural) of Paper-I and Paper-II and the candidates appearing for the post of Junior Engineer (Electrical) should attempt Part-B (Electrical) and the candidates appearing for the post of Junior Engineer (Mechanical) should attempt Part C (Mechanical) of Paper-I and Paper II failing which he/she would be awarded zero marks.

Note-II:  Candidates are allowed to bring their own Slide–Rule, Non Programmable Calculator, Logarithm Tables and Steam Table for Paper-II only. They are not allowed to use such aids for Paper-I.

B.  Personality Test (Interview): Personality test will be conducted for 100 marks. Only those candidates who secure at least the minimum qualifying marks in the written examination as may be fixed by the Commission at its discretion, will be eligible to appear in the Interview.

SSC JE Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Conditions:
1.Nationality/Citizenship: A candidate must be either:
(a) a citizen of India, or
(b) a subject of Nepal, or
(c) a subject of Bhutan, or
(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania(Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

2. Age Limit:
(i) Not exceeding 30 years for Junior Engineer (Civil) and Junior Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical) in MES, Farakka Barrage Project, Border Road Organization, Central Water and Power Research Station, Directorate of Quality Assurance (Naval) & NTRO
(ii) Upto 32 years for Junior Engineers (Civil & Mechanical) in CWC and CPWD

Permissible relaxation of upper age limit as per government orders are as indicated below:

SSC JE Admit Card

Before the commencement of SSC JE 2024 Exam, SSC will be releasing SSC JE Admit Card for Tier-I exam. Candidates will be able to download SSC JE 2024 Call Letter from the official Website of SSC once the Admit Card has been released by Staff Selection Commission of India.

SSC JE Result

After the completion of Preliminary and Mains exams the Staff Selection Commission of India (SSC) will announce the result through the official website of SSC for JE exams.

SSC JE Syllabus

Syllabus: The standard of the questions in Engineering subjects will be approximately of the level of Diploma in Engineering (Civil/ Electrical/ Mechanical) from a recognized Institute, Board or University recognized by All India Board of Technical Education. All the questions will be set in SI units. The details of the syllabus are given below:

Paper-I: Paper I will consists of General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, General Engineering (Civil and Structural), (Electrical & Mechanical).

Paper-II: Paper II consists of Civil & Structural Engineering , Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Fluid Mechanics & Machinery and Production Engineering.

SSC JE APPLICATION FORM

  1. Click on the link mentioned above and you will be redirected to the SSC official site directly.
  2. A page will be opened where you will get the registration and login form.
  3. If you are already registered for SSC Exams, then fill the login details to apply for SSC JE. But if you are not registered, then first you need to fill the registration form.
  4. After login, go to “Apply Now” and fill all the required details i.e Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Education Qualification, Address, educational qualifications, and all the degrees you hold, etc.
  5. After that Fill in your communication address and Upload your Photo and signature.
  6. Before submitting the form, preview your details.
  7. Once you submit the form, the next step is to pay your fee. The application fee is acceptable in online and offline modes.
  8. Pay your fee through Debit/Credit card/Net Banking/E-Challan if applicable.
  9. Click on submit and your form will be submitted successfully.
  10. Your Online SSC JE 2024 application process is completed and you can take a print out of the application form for further use

SSC JE SELECTION PROCESS

The examination will be conducted in two stages:
A.Written Test (500 marks)
B. Document Verification

A. Written Test: Written test will consists of two papers viz Paper -I and Paper-II. Part I will be Objective type questions for 200 marks and Paper II will have Conventional type questions for 300 marks. Time duration for each paper will be 2 hours. Answer- sheets of Paper-II (Conventional Type) will be evaluated in respect of only those candidates who qualify in Paper-I at the standard as decided/fixed by the Commission at its discretion. There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I.

B. Document Verification: Only those candidates who secure at least the minimum qualifying marks in the written examination as may be fixed by the Commission at its discretion, will be eligible to appear in the Document Verification. Candidates who qualify for Document Verification will be recommended for appointment by the Commission on the basis of total marks in the Written Examination and Document Verification.

C. Resolution of Tie Cases: In cases where more than one candidate secure the equal aggregates marks, tie will be resolved by applying the following methods one after another:-
(i) Total marks in written examination.
(ii) Marks in Paper-II.
(iii) Marks in Paper-I.
(iv) Date of birth, with older candidates placed higher.
