West Bengal Police Recruitment Board (WBPRB) has invited applications for the post of Sub-Inspector of Police (Un-armed Branch) and Sub-Inspector of Police (Armed Branch) in West Bengal Police. The no. of posts for 2024 are 464. Govt. of West Bengal,2024 on the results of which recruitment will be made to the posts of Sub-Inspector in under Govt. of West Bengal. The rules of the examination and other particulars are stated in the following
paragraphs. A candidate should verify from the notified rules whether he/she is eligible for admission to the examination. The
conditions prescribed cannot be relaxed.
West Bengal Police Recruitment Board (WBPRB) aims to fill 464 vacancies for Sub-Inspector (Unarmed Branch and Armed Branch) posts. Among these 100 vacancies are reserved for the female category and 364 vacancies are relased for male candidates. The Salary for the post of West Bengal Police is between Rs.7,100 to Rs.37,600 + Rs.3900 with other allowances.
Nationality: Must be a citizen of India.
Age: The candidates must not be less than 20 years and not more than 27 years. Upper Age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST and d by 3 years for OBC candidates of West Bengal only. Upper age limit is also relaxable upto 35 years for departmental candidates of West Bengal Police having requisite qualification.
Educational Qualification: A degree of a recognized university or its equivalent.

Must qualify the following Physical Efficiency Tests:

West Bengal Police Sub-Inspector (Armed, Unarmed) Exam will consists of Preliminary Examination, Final Examination, Personality Test.
Preliminary Examination: Preliminary Examination will be held on n General Studies Logical & Analytical reasoning and Arithmetic with full marks of 200 (100 marks in General studies having 50 questions, 50 marks in Logical & Analytical reasoning having 25 questions and 50 marks in Arithmetic having 25 questions), the duration of the examination being 90 minutes. The preliminary examination will be a screening test for shortlisting of candidates for the Physical Measurement Test and Physical Efficiency Test.
Final Examination: Those who qualify in the Preliminary Examination will be called for Final Examination. The Final Examination will consist of three papers of conventional type questions, namely
a) Paper-I :- General Studies and Arithmetic of 100 marks ( 80 marks for General Studies and 20
marks for Arithmetic) of 2 hours duration.
b) Paper-II:- English of 50 marks of one hour duration.
c) Paper-III:- Bengali/ Hindi / Urdu/ Nepali of 50 marks of one hour duration.
The examination for all the above three papers will be held on the same day.
Personality Test:- Personality test will be held for 30 Marks. A limited number of candidates selected merit-wise on the results of Final Examination will be called for the Personality Test. The minimum pass mark for the personality test will be 08(eight). The candidates who fail to secure minimum pass mark in the personality test will be disqualified irrespective of the marks obtained by them in the Final Combined Competitive Examination.
Note:
The Final Merit List will be prepared on the basis of total marks obtained in the Final Examination and Personality Test.
The West Bengal Police Recruitment Board shall have the discretion to fix qualifying marks in Preliminary Examination, each of the three papers of Final Examination, aggregate of three papers of the Final Examination and also for the Personality Test.

The candidates who have taken Hindi /Urdu/ Nepali as a subject in Paper-III and selected for the post, shall be required to pass a departmental examination in Bengali as specified in the Services (Training and Examination) Rules, West Bengal during the period of probation for confirmation in the post.
Note:
1. The marks obtained by the candidates in the Preliminary Examination will not be counted for the purpose of determining the Final Merit List.
2. The Final Merit List will be prepared on the basis of total marks obtained in the Final Examination and Personality Test.
3. The West Bengal Police Recruitment Board shall have the discretion to fix qualifying marks in Preliminary Examination, each of the three papers of Final Examination, aggregate of three papers of the Final Examination and also for the Personality Test.
Preliminary examination and Paper I of the Final Combined Competitive Examination:
General Studies and Arithmetic:
(a) General Studies:-
Questions will be set to test the General Knowledge of candidates in different spheres.
(b) Logical & Analytical Reasoning:-
Questions will be set to test the logical and analytical ability of the candidate
(C) Arithmetic:-
Questions will be set on the basis of the syllabus of Madhyamik Examination of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education.
Paper II and Paper III of the Final Combined Competitive Examination:
1. Paper II – English:-
Questions may be asked on all or any of the following items:
(a) Drafting of a report from the points or material supplied;
(b) Translation from Bengali/ Hindi/ Urdu/ Nepali, as the case may be to English,
(c) Condensing of a prose passage (summary/ precis)
(d) Correct use of words, correction of sentences, use of common phrases, synonyms and antonyms etc.
2. Paper III – Bengali/Hindi/Urdu/Nepali:-
Questions may be asked on all or any of the following items:
(a) Drafting of a report from the points or material supplied;
(b) Translation from English to Bengali and English to Nepali for the candidates who have opted for ‘Bengali’ or ‘Nepali’ respectively and translation from Hindi/Urdu to Bengali for the candidates who have opted for Hindi or Urdu. The translation shall be of 20(twenty) marks.
The board of West Bengal Police department will issue the admit card 15 days prior to the examination date. Hence, Candidates will be notified to their registered phone and E-Mail IDs.
