A nine member Indian Army team has left for Belarus to compete in the Sniper Frontier Competition as part of the International Army Games schedule 03 Aug to 17 Aug 19. It is a thirteen day intense sniper competition and encompassing flexibility of mind, physical fitness along with firing. The competition is likely to have over twenty three participating countries including Russia & China.
The Lt Gen D Anbu, Vice Chief of Army Staff interacted with the team before they left for Belarus. The Indian Army team has undergone rigorous training for the competition.

The sixth of eight indigenously built Landing Craft Utility (LCU) MK IV class ships 'LCU L 56' was commissioned into the Indian Navy by Vice-Admiral Atul Kumar Jain, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-in-C), Eastern Naval Command,on Monday at Naval Dockyard of Visakhapatnam.
The LCU L56 is an amphibious ship with its primary role being transportation, deployment and recovery of main battle tanks, armoured vehicles, troops and equipment from ship to shore and vice-versa.
Indigenously designed and built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd (GRSE), Kolkata, the ship's commissioning portrays the growing capability of the Indian Navy, GRSE and nation in becoming self-reliant through indigenisation, thus, accentuating our national objective of "Make in India".

Tamil Nadu girl Jerlin Anika has won the gold medal in the World Deaf Youth Badminton Championships held in Taipei last week.Anika bagged four medals in the championship, including the gold, two silver and one bronze.The 15-year-old Anika is a tenth standard student in the Ouvaiyar government in Madurai. From an early age, she became interested in badminton.
Jeya Ratchagan, the father of Anika, said his daughter's performance is a matter of pride for India and Tamil Nadu.
"In recently held competition in Taipei, she has won a gold medal. This medal is for India. It is a matter of pride for Tamil Nadu. The main reason behind her success is the support extended by her school and the efforts put in by her coach Saravanan," Ratchagan told .
"She started learning badminton from the age of eight years," he said, adding the guidance from her coach made her acquire the skills.

American Collin Morikawa has won the US PGA title at the Barracuda Championship. This was his 1st win in the US PGA title. It is the only US tour event that uses the Modified Stableford scoring system. US’s Troy Merritt finished as the runner up of the event.
