IBPS SO stands for IBPS Specialist Officer. Like any office, a bank requires people for keeping it’s “nuts and bolts” intact. While the Probationary Officers and Clerks run the day-to-day operations and business in a bank. There are several specialist officers in a bank. IT Officer (Scale-I) – It would be the responsibility of IT officers to oversee the technological perspectives of banking affairs, both software, and hardware. Nearly all banks contracting in the “IBPS recruitment” have shifted to core-banking for operations, and they use software like FLEX CUBE, Finacle, BanCS, SAP, etc. An IT officer will undergo training in all these domains HR/Personnel Officer (Scale-I)- HR officers in a Bank usually handle the training and induction of new employees, circulating appraisal forms, forming leave schedules, creation of salary accounts, etc. Senior HR managers conduct interviews, take classes, deal with labor laws, promotion and other serious matters Rajbhasha Adhikari (Scale-I)- The individual applying for the post of Rajbhasha Adhikari should be able to create error-free Hindi documents, and translate smoothly between Hindi, English and other regional* languages. Marketing Officer (Scale-I)- Duty of an officer in this category is to improve the profits and market presence of the bank through various campaigns and promotions. Candidates have to qualify in each of the three tests by securing minimum cut-off marks to be decided by IBPS. Adequate number of candidates in each category as decided by IBPS depending upon requirements will be shortlisted for Online Main Examination.

II. Penalty for Wrong Answers (Applicable to both – Preliminary and Main examinations): There will be penalty for wrong answers marked in the Objective Tests. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate one fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score. If a question is left blank, i.e. no answer is marked by the candidate, there will be no penalty for that question.
III. Cutoff Score: (Online Main Examination): Each candidate will be required to obtain a minimum score in the test of Online Main examination and also secure sufficiently high scores to be considered to be shortlisted for interview. Depending on the number of vacancies available, cut-offs will be decided and candidates will be shortlisted for interview. Prior to the completion of the interview process, scores obtained in the online Main examination will not be shared with the candidates shortlisted for interview.
IV. Scores: The corrected scores obtained by each of the candidates in different sessions (if held) will be normalized using equi – percentile method. Scores up to two decimal points shall be taken for the purpose of calculations.
V. Marks obtained in the Online Main Examination only will be considered for Shortlisting for Interview and also for final merit listing.
C. Interview: Candidates who have been shortlisted in the Online Main Examination for CRP SPL-VIII will subsequently be called for an Interview. The total marks allotted for Interview are 100. The minimum qualifying marks in interview will not be less than 40% (35% for SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWD candidates). Candidate should qualify both in the Online Main Examination and interview and be sufficiently high in the merit to be shortlisted for subsequent provisional allotment process.

The eligibility criteria are different for different positions for which the candidates are selected through IBPS SO 2020 Exam. There are three parameters (citizenship, age limit and educational qualification) on which a candidate is judged to be eligible for IBPS SO 2023 Exam.

After the IBPS SO Mains exam, qualified candidates are called for a Personal Interview. Personal Interview comprises a good value for the final selection of IBPS SO. It contains 20% weight-age in the merit list. Candidates need to do well in IBPS SO Interview.

IBPS specialist officer’s selection process details are given below…
Selection Procedure: IBPS will conduct Common Recruitment Process in two stages- Common Written Examination and Common Interview.
Common Written Examination: Examination will consists of Prelims & Mains. There will be negative marking of 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question.
i. Prelims Examination: This Exam consists of 150 questions carries 125 marks in the duration of 2 hours.
ii. Main Examination:
For the Post of Law Officer, IT Officer, Agriculture Field Officer, HR/Personnel Officer and Marketing Officer: Professional Knowledge Test consists of 60 questions carries 60 marks in the duration of 45 minutes.
For the Post of Rajbhasha Adhikari: Professional Knowledge (Objective & Descriptive) Test consists of 47 questions carries 60 marks in the duration of 60 minutes.
Common Interview: Candidates who have been shortlisted in the examination for CRP SPL will subsequently be called for an Interview to be conducted by the Participating Organisation and coordinated by the nodal banks in each State/ UT with the help of IBPS. The total marks allotted for Interview are 100. The minimum qualifying marks in interview will not be less than 40% (35% for SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWD candidates). The weightage (ratio) of Online CWE (exam) and interview will be 80:20. The combined final scores of candidates shall be arrived at on the basis of total scores obtained by the candidates in CRP (SPL) & Interview. Interview score of the candidates failing to secure minimum qualifying marks or otherwise barred from the interview or further process shall not be disclosed.
Provisional Allotment: On completion of the interview process, depending on the vacancies to be filled in during the financial year 2018- 19 based on the business needs of the Participating Organisation and as reported to IBPS, candidates shortlisted will be provisionally allotted to one of the Participating Organisation, based on merit-cum-preference keeping in view the spirit of Govt. Guidelines on reservation policy, various guidelines issued by Govt. of India/Others from time to time, administrative exigency, etc. Vacancies given in this advertisement are indicative. Provisional allotment shall be done on the basis of final vacancies to be reported by the Participating Organizations. Candidates should not claim indicative vacancies as final for provisional allotment. No change in the data already registered by the candidate in the online application form is possible.
The decision of IBPS in provisional allotment of a candidate to a Participating Organisation shall be final and binding upon the selected candidates. However IBPS reserves the right to cancel and reallot Organisation-wise allocation depending upon exigencies or otherwise. Offer of appointment is solely the decision of the Participating Organisations and shall be final and binding. IBPS has no role here.
